Jim Savage is a nearly life-long resident of Delaware County. He currently lives in Upper Chichester with his wife and partner, Midge, with whom he shares four children and four grandchildren.
Jim is an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Marine Corps (Infantry), enlisting in 1983 immediately after the bombing of the Marine Corps barracks in Beirut, Lebanon.
He is a working-class progressive with a background in organized labor. He is also a 25-year member of the United Steelworkers and its predecessor unions – OCAW and PACE. He spent fifteen years in his Local Union leadership, including eight years as President.
Jim has served as a member of the USW National Oil Bargaining Committee for 15 years. In 2015, he led the first national strike in 35 years against the oil refining industry. He is also on the National Steering Committee of the “Labor Campaign for Single Payer Healthcare.” Jim was an elected delegate for Senator Sanders to the Democratic National Convention in 2016 and an aggressive advocate for the principles of social democracy.
Jim agrees with the late Senator Paul Wellstone that “we all do better when we all do better.”
