Yes, everyone expected Mary Gay Scanlon to beat Pearl Kim in that election for the newly constructed 5th District Congressional seat. The state Supreme Court pretty much took care of that, when they blew up the old 7th, with its gerrymandered advantage for the GOP. But nobody saw the depth of what went down last night.
This is becoming a Democratic county. The Dems have the registration numbers. If they get their people to the polls, they will continue to win. It was a very bad night for the Springfield GOP. They lost both a state Senate seat and their state House vote.”
