Longtime Swarthmore committeewoman Colleen Guiney was handed the gavel as the new party leader Sunday during a short meeting in which she was nominated by two men previously believed to be sparring for the job, incumbent Chairman David Landau and union agent John Kane
“I’m so inspired,” said Guiney Monday. “I’m just very pleased to see how well the community has come together to move forward on growing the Democratic Party.”
Guiney, a pediatric nurse practitioner by trade, has been described as a tireless and fervent advocate for Democratic causes and candidates. She has previously served on the Swarthmore Democratic Committee, Pennsylvania State Democratic Committee and as chair of the Swarthmore Democrats.
