Meet the Chair Colleen Guiney
Colleen Guiney is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, and a life-long Democrat. She was has lived in Delaware County for most of her life, graduating from Archbishop Carroll High School. While a student there, she had her first experience serving the community; tutoring children in reading at the Millcreek Community Center in West Philadelphia. While an undergraduate at Princeton University, she volunteered at the New Jersey Neuro-Psychaitric Institiute with the least verbal population, and found tremendous joy sharing time with those who had few visitors. After graduating, she served for one year at the Corrymeela Community, the oldest peace and reconciliation organization in Northern Ireland (where she was extremely fortunate to meet her husband of 33 years, Gerry Murray.)
After returning from Ireland, Colleen continued her education at Thomas Jefferson University, completing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked as a Nurse and administrator in New York and Philadelphia, and completed her Masters of Science in the Primary Care Pediatrics Nurse Practitioner Program at the University of Pennsylvania. Since that time, she has served as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in South Philadelphia. Colleen has also served as President of her local chapter of NAPNAP, the organization for Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.
Colleen and her family moved to Delaware County in 1994, and soon thereafter, she became involved in local politics. She has served on local Democratic Committee in Swarthmore, PA State Democratic Committee, and as Chair of the Swarthmore Democrats. She was elected by
acclimation as Chair of the Delaware County Democrats on 6/3/18. She looks forward to working closely with Chair Emeritus, David Landau, and John Kane who will both continue to serve in leadership moving forward.
Chairman Emeritus – David Landau
David Landau was elected Chairman of the Delaware County Democratic Committee in 2010. He began his political career as Deputy Campaign Manager and Issues Director for Senator Gary Hart’s presidential campaign in 1984. Returning home to Delaware County, he was the Democratic nominee for the United States Congress, running against Curt Weldon for the Seventh District seat in 1988. From 1991 to 2014 he was Chairman of the Nether Providence Democratic Committee. Under his leadership, in 1995, in the face of a 2-1 registration deficit, the Nether Providence Democratic ticket won a majority on the Board of Commissioners for the first time.
Over the years, David has worked in many capacities in campaigns on the local, state and federal level, including the campaigns of Governor Rendell, Senator Casey, President Clinton, Senator John Kerry and President Obama. He was an advisor to former Congressman Joe Sestak’s first run for Congress in 2006.
David is a Delaware County native, raised in Havertown and a graduate of Haverford High school. He lives in Wallingford with his family. He is an attorney and currently partner at the international law firm of Duane Morris, LLP. He represents clients from entrepreneurs to fortune 100 companies in a variety of complex commercial litigation matters, concentrating primarily on intellectual property and employment litigation.
David has a long history of public service, including Solicitor for the Borough of Yeadon in Delaware County from 1992-1998 and special counsel to Nether Providence Township as well as counsel to the Nether Providence Civil Service Commission. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Jewish Federation of Delaware County.
