DOCTORS, LAWYERS
AND YOU:
THE BATTLE OVER MALPRACTICE/TORT REFORM
Will Tort
Reform lower medical costs?
How will restraining the
right to sue and capping awards affect physician accountability?
Join us on Thursday March 24, 2005,
7:00 PM at the Media Borough Hall for a lively discussion on medical
malpractice and tort reform. Our panel will include:
-
John M. Gallagher of
the law firm Gallagher, Schoenfeld,
Surkin &
Chupein and president of the Pennsylvania Trial
Lawyers Association
-
Robert
Surrick executive director of the Politically
Active Physicians Association
-
Virginia Adams O'Connell,
assistant professor at Swarthmore College
-
Frank
Gerolamo, an attorney who has defended doctors in
a number of malpractice lawsuits
This debate comes at a time when
the current administration and lawmakers are in the process of
changing the rules regarding civil lawsuits. Audience members
will be given the opportunity to participate by asking questions
of the panelists.
The discussion will deal with the effect of tort reform on the
practices of lawyers and doctors throughout the commonwealth and the
nation, what this will mean to patients and potential
clients regarding their ability to seek fair and adequate
compensation for injuries and the overall impact on lawsuits,
medical treatment and insurance costs.
Help
spread the word and invite everyone you know in order to make
certain this important issue remains in the public spotlight.
The Media Borough Hall is located at
