Delaware County Democrats Earn Newspaper Endorsements
The Delaware County Daily Times has completed its endorsements for races in Delaware County. Among their endorsements are Democrats Joe Sestak for Congress, Thaddeus Kirkland and Greg Vitali, incumbent State Representatives, and Brian Lentz and Marilyn Woodman, running for State Representative in the 161st and 162nd districts. A summary of the endorsements appears below:
Joe Sestak for Congress
"The war in Iraq has been a dominant issue. Sestak has referred to it over and over again as a "tragic misadventure" and insists he never would have voted to give Bush the authority to go into Iraq, as Weldon did. He insists Iraq never posed a clear or present danger."

The Philadelphia Inquirer, which has not yet made endorsements in other Delaware County races, has also endorsed Joe Sestak for Congress.
Thaddeus Kirkland for State Representative
"Kirkland, while initially opposing the deal that will eventually bring slot machines to the city’s new racetrack, is in position to help ensure that the "trickle-down" theory expected from Harrah’s operation in fact makes it to those who need it most."
Bryan Lentz for State Representative
Lentz "hopes to be part of a new Democratic majority that can deliver more of the agenda envisioned by Gov. Rendell. He makes a point of noting that among those things would be a reduction in the size of the Legislature and term limits."

Marilyn Woodman for State Representative
"You’d be hard-pressed to find someone more attractive in the role of "citizen legislator" than Woodman. The 30-year Norwood resident has owned nine successful businesses. She wants to bring that kind of acumen to Harrisburg, specifically in continuing to attack several nagging problems, property taxes, health care and continuing to attract business."
Greg Vitali for State Representative
The maverick tag is something of Vitali’s calling card. He’s a proponent of good government and a staunch protector of the environment, especially when it comes to global warming. The Daily Times nod goes to Vitali, sending him back to Harrisburg to continue his maverick good-government work. If the pay hike proved anything, it’s that the place direly needs proponents of just that.
