In this issue: Democrats on the Rise in Delco August 12 Barbecue Fundraiser Save the Date: Labor Day Picnic Worth Repeating
____________________________________________________ Democrats on the Rise in Delco Democrats represent 50% of all new voters in the County since January
Voter registration statistics compiled from the voter database indicate that in the first six months of 2006, Democrats outregistered Republicans in new voters, continuing a trend that began several years ago. The big news is that for the first time ever, Democrats account for 50.3% of all new voters to date in 2006. The number of new voters identified as Republicans dropped to just 33%. The difference is made up by registered Independents and minor political parties.
"This is further evidence that the Democratic Party is strong and continues to grow in Delaware County. Our efforts to build a majority party are clearly paying serious dividends," said County Chair Cliff Wilson.
The number of new voters from January to July was 7,852. Of those, 3,953 were Democrats, 2,586 were Republicans, and the rest were distributed among minor parties.
