The Following Urgent Message is from County Chair Cliff Wilson

WE NEED ELECTION INSPECTORS AND JUDGES

As we've seen in Florida and in Ohio, the first line of defense guaranteeing an honest election, and assuring that every registered voter is given the opportunity to have their vote cast and counted, is the local precinct election board. This year, three members of that precinct election board are elected. They include the Judge of Elections and two Inspectors of Elections -the person receiving the most votes for inspector is elected Majority Inspector and the other person is elected Minority Inspector. The Minority Inspector then appoints a clerk. In a perfect world each election board will then consist of two members from each political party.

WE NEED CANDIDATES FOR INSPECTOR OF ELECTION AND JUDGE OF ELECTIONS IN ALL OUR PRECINCTS IN DELAWARE COUNTY!

The Democratic Party should be nominating an inspector candidate and a judge candidate in every precinct in our county, which will require over 800 candidates. Those elected will have the obligation and opportunity to conduct primary and general elections starting next year with the May 2006 primary. And there is actually payment for your services - $90 per election.

YOU CAN HELP ASSURE HONEST ELECTIONS IN DELAWARE COUNTY BY SERVING ON YOUR PRECINCT ELECTION BOARD - EMAIL US BACK IMMEDIATELY.

We will then connect you with the local Democratic committee in your area and arrange to get you a petition (you need 5 signatures to run for Inspector - 10 to run for Judge).

In the early days of our republic, a young self-educated man arrived in a new county in time to be eligible vote. So, on election day, he went to the polling place to cast his first vote. The regular clerk of elections hadn't shown up and the polls couldn't open until someone could be found who was willing to serve. He agreed, and was elected Clerk at a curbstone election. It was the first public office he ever held. Thirty years later he was elected President of the United States. Just think - you could be the next Abraham Lincoln.
