Annual County Nominating Convention and Cocktail Party

The Annual Delaware County Democratic Nominating Convention will convene at 7 pm on Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at the Towne House, Baltimore Pike and Veterans Square in Media. Sign in begins at 6:30. The convention will nominate candidates for the following offices:

Delaware County Council
County Controller
Sheriff
Register of wills

The convention will consist of nominating speeches and the candidates will also give remarks. We expect some statewide Democrats to attend and speak as well.

In addition to endorsing for the above offices, there may be possible consideration of platform issues and/or resolutions. There will also be reports and speeches from a number of county party leaders on various issues.

All county committee members (regular, additional and ex-officio) are entitled to vote at the nominating convention. Non-committee members are welcome to attend as guests.

We also need non-committee members to help staff the convention at the sign in table and as convention floor marshalls. If interested, contact Tony Campisi.

The convention will be preceded by a cocktail party at 6pm. The cost is $25 per person and helps raise money to cover convention and other party expenses. For tickets to the cocktail party, send a check to:

"American presidents for decades have believed in the Geneva Conventions because they protect American troops captured by the enemy. It's a mistake to choose as our nation's chief law enforcement officer someone who called these protections 'quaint' and opened a Pandora's Box that has tarred America's image in the world and placed our troops at even greater risk."
