Message from the County Chairman - State
Legislative Campaigns
This year we have a number of new candidates for state legislative seats. They are facing the difficult task of campaigning against well funded long-time incumbent conservative Republicans and competing for campaign donations with our Presidential and US Senate candidates.
As our candidates hold fundraisers and you get invitations please see if you
can make the effort to attend and/or donate. They are giving their
time and a year of their life to present the Democratic message and stand for
our party - they will not receive assistance from the state party because the
state campaign committee targets only open seats (i.e. those without
incumbents). They will not receive contributions from special interests
because most if not all of those have already made their deal with the
Republican incumbents. So they must depend upon your support and
generosity to raise the funds to print the literature that allows them to take
our message to the voters.
The first of these coming up is on July 2 for Rose Izzo. You may have read in the press of Rose's impressive write-in primary against a well funded effort by the 28 year Republican incumbent Nick Miccozie to hijack our party line and prevent a contest in November. With the solid support of the party in the 163rd district Rose won with 75% of the vote. Now we need to wage a general election havaing already spent the limited dollars we could raise for her. Rose Izzo's BBQ Fundraiser Friday July 2nd from 5:30 to 8:30 at her home: 2226 Clayton Rd., Ridley Please send donations of $25 per person to: Elect Rose Izzo 2226 Clayton Road Morton PA 19070
More
information on events for our candidates in other legislative districts will
be sent as details are finalized.
