Visit our website News Articles Worth Repeating ____________________________________________________ Special Election - Tuesday, June 17th Bill Thomas for State Representative This is a reminder that there is a special election to fill the vacant 168th PA House seat on Tuesday, June 17th. Bill Thomas has been nominated as the Democratic candidate, having recieved a unanimous recommendation from the Democratic Parties of Delaware and Chester Counties. Once elected, Bill will help move Pennsylvania forward, and work with Governor Rendell to make this a better state. There are only three weeks before June 17th and the campaign could use your help - before election day helping with phone banks, mailings, etc and on election day working the polls. Even if you do not live in this district, we need your help. Anyone interested in volunteering with the Thomas for State Representative campaign is invited to a volunteer night Thursday, May 29 at 7:30PM at the Middletown Township Building on Pennell Rd. behind Weathers Dodge on Route 1. There will also be a 'Tea for Thomas' event to meet and talk with Bill Thomas between 2 and 5 pm on Saturday, May 31 at the home of Eleanor McDowell, 200 Cheyney Dr, West Chester, PA. (Cheyney Dr. abuts on 202 about half a mile north of Route 926, in Westtown). There will be refreshments, a silent auction, and possibly several other candidates from Delaware and Chester Counties. Details on a debate between Bill and his Republican opponent will be forthcoming soon. ____________________________________________________ PA Budget Cuts - What do they mean for Delaware County? Delco NOW and the Unitarian Universalist Church of Delco invite you to a forum on the cuts in the recently passed Pennsylvania budget and how they will effect Delaware County. The forum will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2003 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Delaware County located at 145 W. Rose Tree Road, Media (near 252 and Rose Tree Road). Discussion tpics include: Effects on jobtraining programs, welfare, TANF, people with special needs, and after-school programs. Because they certainly haven't done the job of running the county. They've loaded up a one-party council, judiciary, county service system and public works, and then sat back and enjoyed the fun for fifteen years.
