Democrats Mourn Eric Schwart
It is with sadness that we report the death of Radnor Democratic Committeeman
Eric Schwartz.
Eric was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor last year, but remained
active in the Democratic Party. The county Democratic Party honored Eric's
service with a special recognition award at the annual Democratic County
Counvention in February. Eric served as chair of the Radnor Democratic Party
from 1984-88; and June, 2002 - January, 2003. He was Treasurer from 1988 to
2002 and served as a committee person from 1980-2003.
The following testimonial is from Dave Freeman, of Radnor:
I had the pleasure of working closely with Eric on last year's Sara Petrosky
campaign. Characteristically, he stepped forward for any uncovered
date on Sara's walking schedule. He volunteered unobtrusively, and
faithfully met his commitments. He was vigorous throughout the fall
campaign, running up flights of stairs and trotting ahead of Sara, who is
herself no mean door-to-door campaigner.
I appreciated Eric's vigor, since he and I were the same age. This is
why it is particularly hard to believe he was struck down soon thereafter.
Like the rest of you, I particularly appreciated Eric's remarkable competency
at mediation. Contending groups arise year after year in Radnor!
Eric as chairman, then treasurer for a decade, then again chairman, was
able to define acceptable compromises for most disputes. He was able
to empathize with each colleague and make him/her feel that that this side
of an issue was heard and appreciated. Yet, he was not indifferent
to issues -- not a fence-straddler. He cared passionately about Democratic
Party ideals, and he was a true American patriot. And his integrity
as keeper of bank accounts was accepted by all, including wisdom about when
to spend from our small account and when to pass.
I will remember him -- and sorely miss him -- for my remaining years
here.
There will be a memorial service at at the Willows in Radnor on Monday
May 19 at 11 a.m.

Contact Congress About the Bush Tax Plan
Wednesday, May 14: Call and Email Your Members of Congress
The Democratic Party is partnering with MoveOn.org, People for the American
Way, Campaign for America's Future, and dozens of other groups representing
millions of Americans to organize a massive public mobilization opposing
the irresponsible Bush tax scheme.
On Wednesday, May 14, you are urged to join hundreds of thousands of
activists across the nation as we call our members of Congress to stand
up in
opposition to the Bush plan to give billions in new tax breaks to the
wealthiest sliver of Americans.
to get contact information for your Senators and Representatives
and call and email them this Wednesday.
Key Points to Make
When you call and email your members of Congress, be sure to mention the
following important points:
The tax cuts in the Bush plan overwhelmingly benefit the wealthiest sliver
of Americans, providing little relief to most working families.
The Bush plan does nothing to help states confront their worst fiscal
crisis since World War II. States have been forced to cut vital programs
-- for education, health care, homeland security, and more -- and even raise
taxes on working families.
The irresponsible Bush tax scheme will create enormous new debts for the
next generation.
Democrats in Congress have introduced a real
stimulus plan that will get our economy moving again, with targeted
tax breaks, aid for cash-strapped states and small businesses, and an extension
of unemployment benefits. You can make a difference by calling and
emailing your members of Congress today.
